Knowing when its time for a change

Years ago when I was clearly stuck in the wrong job – and staying in it for the wrong reasons – my father asked me something I will never forget. He asked, “why are you running your life on fear and complacency?”

The moment he said it I knew that it he was right. Fear of change and complacency with the status quo were running me. I eventually changed that – and not without a few growing pains I might add.

Now that I work as a career coach I realize my thinking and behavior weren’t so uncommon. There’s a lot of fear out there. There’s also a lot of complacency. And there are a lot of people ignoring the little voice inside them that’s whispering, or in some cases screaming…“This is not your calling…. these are not your peers...this is not you”.

For any and all out there who know what I’m talking about - and I know there are lots of you - give yourself the gift of listening to that voice, and start along the path of getting really clear on who you are, who your tribe is, and what calls to you.

The number one regret of the dying is that they lived a life that wasn’t true to who they really are. Start taking the steps today so that your biggest regret will be something far less common.
